Cala Comte Sunset: Times, Spots and Sunset Boats
Cala Comte sunset times for every month, where the sun sets between the islets, where to watch from the rocks, getting back after dark, and the sunset boats.
Cala Comte faces west, which is why it is Ibiza’s best-known sunset beach. In midsummer the sun goes down at about 21:20, and in mid-September at about 20:05. It sets over open sea between the islets: s’Espartar on the left, s’Illa des Bosc and sa Conillera on the right. The Sant Josep council calls it a very popular sunset spot, and on a summer evening it is.

Sunset times by month
Calculated for Platges de Comte (38.96° N, 1.22° E) in local time, with summer time from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. Published tables for Ibiza Town differ by a minute or two.

The latest sunsets of the year fall around the end of June, at about 21:24. Summer time ends on Sunday 25 October 2026: sunset moves from 19:04 on the 24th to 18:03 on the 25th, and to 17:55 by the 31st. The best-time guide adds the sea temperature, rain and transport for every month. Golden hour, the warm, low light photographers wait for, is roughly the last hour before those times.
Where the sun sets, through the year
From April to September the sun sets between the islets. In late June it goes down furthest to the right, in the north-west, halfway between s’Espartar and s’Illa des Bosc; by late September it sets almost due west. In winter it moves left, past s’Espartar, and sets over the sea to the south-west of it. If you want the sun to drop between the islands for a photo, come between spring and early autumn.
Where to watch from

- The rocks of es Racó d’en Xic, just south of the main coves, look straight out to the islets and the open sea. Wear shoes with grip: the rock is uneven.
- The sand of the coves is lower, so the islets rise higher in the view. It is the better choice with small children.
- A restaurant or bar above the bay. Several beach restaurants face the sunset, Sunset Ashram among the best known. Book ahead in summer if you want a table for the sunset itself.
- From the water, on a boat trip. You get the whole coastline in silhouette, and no queue for the car park afterwards.
Arrive an hour early in July and August to find a spot. And keep to the marked paths: the council asks visitors to, because this is a nature reserve and a fragile one.
Getting back after dark
The sunset crowd leaves at the same time, so this is where an evening at Cala Comte goes wrong. The car park empties slowly, taxis are scarce, and the bus is full. When the council closed the clifftop to cars in 2017, it also ran the Sant Antoni bus later in summer, until after sunset. On ALSA’s 2026 timetable the last P4 back leaves Cala Comte at 21:45 from June to September, after sunset, but at 18:40 in May and October. In October that is before sunset until the clocks go back on 25 October, and after it from then until the bus stops on 31 October. From November to April there is no P4 at all. Check the timetable on ALSA’s Ibiza site before you go, and know which bus you are aiming for. The how-to-get-there guide has the details.
The sunset from a boat
A sunset boat trip solves the way back: it leaves from Sant Antoni and brings you back there.
Sunset Boat Trip

Three hours: Cala Bassa, Cala Comte, then a secret stop for the sunset. Ages 14 and up.
See this trip →Prices and review counts as listed on GetYourGuide in October 2026, not a quote: they change with the season and the date you pick.
When checked on 22 October 2026, GetYourGuide listed the sunset trip’s last 2026 date as 25 October, with no 2027 dates on sale yet; the snorkeling and sunset trip listed dates to 31 October.
The second trip’s listing warns that its return time shifts through the season with the sunset, and that its sunset departures are for guests over 14. The beach-hopping cruise on the homepage also has an afternoon departure that ends with the sunset on the way back into Sant Antoni harbour.
Is the sunset at Cala Comte worth it?
Yes, if you plan the way home. The sunset is the reason most people come, and on a clear evening, with the islets in silhouette, it is as good as its reputation. It is also crowded in July and August. June and September give you the same view with more room on the rocks, and a sunset before 21:00 in September makes the evening easier.
