The Best Time to Visit Cala Comte
When to go to Cala Comte: sea temperature, sunset, rain, and which boats and buses run each month, plus what October, winter and spring are like.
June and September give you a warm sea with everything running. October still has a warm sea, until the boats and the bus stop on 31 October. From November to April Cala Comte is still free and open, but no boat trip stops there and the P4 bus does not run, so you come by car or taxi. July and August are the hottest months and the busiest.

Sea: NOAA OISST v2.1 daily sea-surface temperature, monthly mean 2016-2025, off Cala Comte (38.9° N, 1.1° E). Air and rain: AEMET (Agencia Estatal de Meteorología) climate normals 1981-2010, Ibiza airport. Rainy days have at least 1 mm of rain. Sunset: calculated for Platges de Comte, local time. Buses: ALSA Ibiza timetables for lines P4 and A14, checked October 2026. Boats and tours: GetYourGuide booking calendars, checked October 2026.
The sea temperature is the monthly average at the surface just off the coves, from ten years of NOAA satellite and buoy data. The daytime high is the average daily maximum at Ibiza airport, about 15 km away, from AEMET, Spain’s weather agency. Both are averages, not a forecast.
Cala Comte in October
October is still a beach month at Cala Comte. The sea averages about 24.1 °C in the first half of the month and 22.5 °C in the second (23.3 °C for the month, against 22.8 °C in June), and daytime highs are about 24 °C. It is also one of the wetter months, with 5.6 rainy days on average, so keep a day in hand.
- Sunset moves from 19:39 on the 1st to 19:04 on the 24th. On Sunday 25 October 2026 the clocks go back, and the sun sets at 18:03, then 17:55 by the 31st.
- The P4 bus runs every day until 31 October, seven buses each way. The last one back leaves Cala Comte at 18:40: before sunset until the 24th, and after it from the 25th, so in the last week of October you can watch the sun go down and still catch the bus.
- The boats run until the end of the month. On GetYourGuide’s calendars (checked 22 October 2026), the beach-hopping cruise, the small-group sailing trip and the jet ski run list dates to 31 October; the sunset trip runs to the 25th.
If you are on the island in the last days of October, the beach-hopping cruise is the easy way to see both beaches: it docks at Cala Bassa and Cala Comte for about an hour each, from $58 in current promotion (usually $78) with lunch and drinks (3,592 reviews, checked October 2026).
November to March: the beach without the season
The beach is free and open all winter. What stops is the infrastructure around it.
- No boat trips stop at Cala Comte; the last ones of 2026 sail on 31 October.
- No P4 bus. The only public transport is the A14 between Sant Josep and Cala Tarida, which stops at Cala Comte on request, Monday to Friday except public holidays. You book the stop by phone on 971 578 325 or in ALSA’s Mobi4U app. On the 2026 timetable it reaches Cala Comte at 12:43 and 17:58 from Sant Josep, and leaves for Sant Josep at 7:40 and 13:10. The how-to-get-there guide has the full picture.
- By car or taxi is how most people come. Ibiza’s vehicle-entry rules for cars brought over on the ferry only apply from 1 June to 30 September.
- Nothing is guaranteed to be open. The council lists the beach bars, sunbed rental and lifeguards as seasonal services, so bring water and food.
The sea cools from about 20 °C in November to 15 °C in February and March, and daytime highs are 16 to 20 °C, with about five rainy days a month. Sunset comes early, between 17:33 in December and about 19:00 in mid-March, and in winter the sun goes down to the south-west of s’Espartar rather than between the islets.
If you would rather someone else drove, two land tours stop at Cala Comte in the cooler months:

Spring: April and May
April is the hardest month to get there without a car. No bus stops at Cala Comte at all: the P4 has not started, and the A14 runs only to Cala Tarida. No boat trips run yet either, so it is a car or a taxi. The sea is still cool, about 16 °C, with daytime highs about 20 °C, and the sun sets between 20:17 and 20:31, back between the islets.
May is when the season starts. The P4 runs every day from 1 May, seven buses each way; the last one back leaves Cala Comte at 18:40, well before sunset (about 20:46 to 20:59). The boat trips start too: the all-inclusive Beach Hopper’s first 2027 date is 1 May, from $67 (1,411 reviews), and it is already on sale. The sea reaches about 19 °C on average, with highs about 23 °C.

Summer: June to September
Everything runs. The P4 goes eleven times a day each way, and the last bus back leaves Cala Comte at 21:45, after sunset. The sea averages 22.8 °C in June, 25.9 °C in July, 27.0 °C in August and 25.7 °C in September, and it hardly rains in July.
- June has the longest evenings, with sunset after 21:00 all month.
- July and August are the hottest months, with highs about 30 °C, and the busiest. The car park by the road can fill up, so arrive in the morning or take the bus, and book a boat trip ahead.
- September keeps a warm sea, about 26 °C, with sunset moving from 20:27 to 20:05, which makes an evening visit easier.
The sunset guide has the exact times and where to watch from, and the worth-it guide covers the crowds.

What is the best month to go to Ibiza for Cala Comte?
June or September, for warm water, long evenings and the boats and buses running, without the July and August peak. October is the late option: the sea still averages 23.3 °C, and the boats and the P4 run until the 31st.
Is Cala Comte worth visiting in October?

Can you swim at Cala Comte in November?
You can. The sea averages about 20 °C in November, about the same as in May. There are no lifeguards out of season, as the council lists them for the high season only, so swim close to the shore.
